About This Item
Racine, WI: Western Publishing Company, Inc, 1985. Hard Cover. Fine. First Edition, 2nd Printing. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A pictorial front cover of a strange man in car trying to pick up two children. Book shows the various ways, in story form, for a child to protect himself or herself from a stranger, either with kidnapping intentions or sexual abuse intentions. White families & black families are illustrated. As children become more independent and start going places without adults, they need to know how to deal with potentially dangerous situations. You Can Say "No" presents short, frank stories about children who did the right thing when approached by an adult who became "too friendly". An informed child is a prepared child. Parents can use this book not only to teach their children how to protect themselves, but to open discussions in a nonthreatening way about situations harmful to children. 25 pages. Has a small "stop, drop & roll" sticker on inside of front cover. One page has three small cuts 1/16" - 1/8" long on the bottom of the page. Doesn't interfere with the text or picture..
