About This Item

Zagreb, 1969. First edition. Leaflet. In fine condition, only a small crease on the upper. left corner.. First edition. Leaflet. Foldout. Very rare publication by the Yugoslavian Beatles Fan Club about the. Yellow Submarine LP.

In 1966, when Jugoton (now Croatia Records) from Zagreb and PGP RTB (now PGP RTS) from Belgrade finally opened their doors to modern pop and rock music from UK and US, The Beatles officially became available in the former Yugoslavia record market. Jugoton handled all the official releases from EMI (Parlophone, Apple...) and PGP RTB had the licensing contract with Polydor, so they released the early Beatles stuff recorded in Hamburg with Tony Sheridan.
Starting with compilation "A Collection Of Beatles Oldies", released in Yugoslavia in late December 1966 (few weeks after the original UK release date), the Beatles' albums had became regular onwards - "Sgt. Pepper", "The Beatles", "Yellow Submarine", "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be", as well as all the singles from 1967 to 1970 (except "Hello Goodbye", released only on flexidisc for the Dzuboks magazine).
In 1973 the "Red" and "Blue" collections followed. The rest of the Beatles album releases ("Please Please Me" to "Revolver", including the album version of "Magical Mystery Tour" from 1976) were released for the first time starting from 1975 onwards, along with the re-releases of "Sgt. Pepper", "The Beatles" and "Abbey Road".
Sadly, LP versions of "Yellow Submarine" and "Let It Be" never got re-released in Yugoslavia after their first releases in 1969 and 1970 (only on cassette, "Let It Be" in the early seventies and 1988, and "Yellow Submarine" only in 1988).
