Set in the aftermath of WWII, a newly independent woman, presuming her husband dead, wins his seat in Parliament and is beginning to explore new love - when her war-weary husband makes a surprise return. Inspired by du Maurier's own experiences dealing with changes in her life after her husband's return from duty. Small blue star on front pastedown about level with another on front flap fold. Near fine in dust jacket showing few small chips and tears and some light foxing, primarily along front flap fold, but still attractive and otherwise very good. Relatively scarce, especially in this U.S. edition.
