Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1944. Original program for the 1946 Academy Award-winning film. Published to coincide with the World Premiere Engagement at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, with laid-in color portrait print of Claude Jarman, Jr., by artist Douglass Crockwell. Jarmen played "Jody" in the film, the boy who persuades his parents to allow him to adopt a baby deer. Based on Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' 1939 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Brief biographies of the cast and crew are featured in the program, as well as a history of Rawlings' novel and its adaptation. As is the custom with many film programs, other films are featured at the rear, this one being "Till the Clouds Roll By" (1946). Red wrappers with die-cut front wrapper, printed in white and red throughout. 9 x 12 inches (23 x 30 cm), twenty pages, saddle-stitched. Very Good plus, with brief creasing and foxing.
