About This Item

UK,12mo p/back,1st edn. [First published New York,ACE, 1970 (paperback).First UK edn LONDON,Robert Hale & Co,1971 (Hardback),first UK paperback edn,LONDON, ARROW BOOKS LTD.,1972 - this listing.Book is out-of-print.] FINE-.No owner inscrptn and no price removal from rear card cover.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,glossy, wrap-around black background with colour photographic illustrated image to covers, front cover with white lettered title+author name; a flat black spine/backstrip possibly(?) lightly and minimally sunned/faded and with some glue shrinkage causing minimal wrinkling to same - but definitely NO reading creases present; similalrly coloured+ lettered title+author as front's and publisher's white numeration C604 to head and publisher's b/w illustrated colophon to foot of same, rear cover with a near similar, colour photographic illustrated image as the front's cover, but just slightly different and a white-lettered synopsis. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping to edges and corners - no nicks, tears or splits present.Top+fore-edges with inevitable age-acquired toning but NO foxing; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and soune - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips, would appear unread other than my own collation.UK,12mo p/back,1st edn,7-191pp [paginated] includes 18 chapters; plus [unpaginated] half-title with synopsis, title page, and a dedication. Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional, and even internally, the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of its 50+ year-old age and nature, i.e. an ephemeral p/back. It is only the exterior faults that prevents a slightly higher grading.Despite them, it really is an exceptional, exemplary example for its cleanliness, brightness lack of detracting faults and with the title being out-of-print. The title is at No. 65,in David Pringle's 'Science Fiction- The 100 Best Novels',(London,Xanadu,1985.) The novel won a John Campbell Memorial Award retrospectively in 1976,and is a grim story of time travel to the near future and of a USA in a bad shape. Please contact seller @ rpaxtonden@blueyonder.co.uk ,because of the lighter weight of this item, for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page!
