About This Item
London: Oxford University Press, 1970. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 12mo. Blue cloth boards, gilt titling to spine. Rubbing to spine ends, corners and top and tail edges. Dust jacket lightly bumped at edges and sunned at spine. Ink ownership inscription to FFEP. This is the long awaited Summer Commedy that complete's Fry's seasonal quartet of plays: The Lady's Not for Burning (Spring), Venus Observed (Autumn), and The Dark is Light Enough (Winter). It markes in part a return to the serio-comic vein with which he first made his name, but there is at once an apparent ease, a warmth, and a depth of humanity that gives the play a new richness of texture.
