About This Item

Princeton University Press. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1947. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Hardcover first printing with dustjacket, this is a clean, crisp copy with the following flaws: the book has some moderate discoloration to the cloth on the back cover and a bit of rubbing to the cloth at bottom of spine, the binding is tight and square and the contents are fine, the dustjacket has a 2-inch by .5 inch wedge of loss from the bottom front corner of the front panel and a tiny edge-chip at bottom of spine, it is very clean, the original price (2.50) is present and a professional (removable) mylar cover is included, quite a presentable copy of the fairly scarce original edition, "the exciting story of the naval surveying expedition which followed Commodore Perry and tested the Treaty of Kanagawa, formally opening Japan to the West," 161 pages, maps .
