About This Item

A. H. & A. W. Reed, Sydney, 1980. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. Acknowledgements, introduction by author, to appendices and index. Green coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with 178 photographs and 130+ line drawings and charts. Blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with blue, red and black coloured titles to the front panel and blue and black coloured titles to the back strip. Even though we have GPS, and electronic navigation, this book covers every aspect of accurate navigation that might be needed by a yachtsman, when the batteries go flat. The author moves from a consideration of basic equipment, the marine compass and charts, to the details of laying off and plotting a course. There is a full discussion of the use of the sextant and all aspects of celestial navigation. Rubbing of the book corners and softening of the back strip edges. Dust marks and faint spotting to the top text block edges with previous owners name, in blue coloured ink, also present to all text edges along with their name to the top right hand corner of the free front end page; which also shows a few marks. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower edge of the front paste-down. A previous owner has attached the dustwrapper to the paste-downs with tape – tape still in situ. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with a few marks also present. Sunning to the back strip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 256 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
