With 48 black and white plates bearing facsimiles of bindings, title pages, etc. 4to, publisher's original brown cloth lettered in gilt on the spines, t.e.g., in the original dustjacket. xxxiii, 399; [viii], 195 (including index). A fine set, the books especially bright and unused, the jackets a bit mellowed at the spines as is typical and with a little chipping at the tip of one volume. AN EXTENSIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY OF NINETEENTH CENTURY FICTION WITH OVER 3700 ENTRIES. Sadleir is also known for his full-length study on Anthony Trollope, whose work is featured quite prominently in this text. His truly remarkable collection of Victorian literature, which is the basis of this bibliography, is now at the UCLA Department of Special Collections. Sadleir's work cataloging it is well known to collectors, booksellers, and bibliophiles throughout the English-speaking world.
