This innovative picture book with verses by Margarete Kallmeyer-Melhorn reflects an interesting transitional period in German society from a nursery perspective: the change from traditional German society to the modern world. The book contains a biographical note with family photographs by Kallmeyer-Melhorn's great nephew, Thomas Langensiepen, an introduction by Ivy Trent, a facsimile of the original illustration with parallel text and translation and a facsimile of the original typescript.
