About This Item

Methuen. Hardback. First edition. Historical fiction set in the 15th century and primarily in the village of Ewelme in Oxfordshire. The story features the village school, built by Alice Chaucer, granddaughter of Geoffrey Chaucer, who as Dame Alice is a character in the story. Illustrated by Gareth Floyd. This is the final historical novel by the award winning Cynthia Harnett. Illustrated map to endpapers. Brown boards with gilt titles to spine are very clean and neat. Colour illustrated dust jacket is a little dusty and the surface laminated is peeling in a cuple of places attracting dust beneath. Text is clean. Binding is sound. Very good copy in chipped and torn dust jacket . Hardback. First Edition. 1971.
