About This Item

[Springfield, MA: Indian Motocycle Co.], Feb.-March, 1944. 4to. 19, [1] pp., plus 4 pp. full colour-illustrated Indian Motorcycle catalogue. Numerous black & white photo illustrations, text diagrams. Self-printed photographic softcovers (slight bumping to lower right corner), still VG copy. First edition of this scarce installment of the in-house magazine for Indian Motorcycles, and motorcycle enthusiasts, which features a nicely printed colour lithograph catalogue of the full line-up of Indian Motorcycles including the “Thirty-Five,” “Forty-five,” Dispatch-Car, Deluxe Sidecar, Express Sidevan, the Wartime “Three-Forty-Four,” and others. The Indian Motorcycle Co. began as the Hendee Manufacturing Co., and then changed the name to the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Co. in 1928, and went bankrupt in 1953. Eventually Polaris purchased the rights to the name and moved the manufacturing facilities to Minnesota and Iowa, and revived the famed brand.
