Red cover with blind-printing and gilt lettering are a little darkened and rubbed at edges and are bumped and scuffed at corners and spine-ends, paper is split over both internal hinges but binding is secure and otherwise sound, clean pages and clean brown end-papers. Black and red title-page, small bookbinder's label (Edmonds & Remnants, London) on inside of rear cover. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Contains many colour illustrations. No dust-jacket. Warwick: Henry T. Cooke, 1869 Book. Good. Original Cloth. [iv], iv, 899, [1] pages. Lightly browned. Original red cloth, respined with the old cloth laid down, this rather damaged. Cloth faded and with some wear, some bubbling to the cloth on the rear board. Two pieces of paper attached to the front pastedown - "The Rev John T Thorn, Ashow Rectory, June 19, 1871" and "Fredk CA Colvile" written on the other - with "from" written in between. FCA Colvile was the author's father and he lived for part of his life at Barton on the Heath in south Warwickshire. A few small ink notes to the final pages. A heavy volume, extra postage will be required to send it outside the UK..

Undated but circa 1870. 899 pages. Red blind stamped cloth with gilt titling and bevelled edges. Spine ends lightly rubbed. Front end paper and half title foxed. Gift label to front pastedown.
