Boston and New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1899. Large paper edition, 1899, number 177 of 500 copies printed. Exquisite set in twenty volumes, complete. Dark olive morocco leather over marbled boards, raised spine bands with gilt lettering and decorated compartments, top edgs gilt, other edges untrimmed, marbled endpapers, tissue protected frontis in each volume plus additional tissue protected plates, attached ribbon bookmarks, books about 9 inches tall. Near fine condition with spines faded to a rich warm brown, spine gilt bright and clear, a couple of instances of light rubbing to corners, good hinges, firm text blocks, clean pages with a small personal name stamp at the top of each preliminary blank, no other markings. Includes ten volumes of History of England, six of Critical and Historical Essays; two of Speeches and Legal Studies; and one each of Biographies and Poems; and Excursions in Literature and Letters. . Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
