A miscellany of Household editions and later printings of his works, published between 1889 and 1890. A collection of ten volumes of the complete works of Oliver Wendell Holmes, American physician and poet, considered one of the fireside poets and one of the best writers in his time. Among his most popular works are the 'Breakfast Table' prose series and his poem 'Old Ironsides.' This series comprises a selection of essays, poetry, and medical studies by this author.The present collection is comprised of the following titles:The Poet at the Breakfast-Table, the third series of Breakfast Table conversations. Illustrated with a frontispiece; The Poetical Works in one volume, Household edition, with a frontispiece and eleven additional full page plates; A Collection of Essays 1857-1881, originally published in 1863; Medical Essays 1842-1882, originally published in 1861; A Mortal Antipathy, First Opening of 'The New Portfolio', the ninth edition; The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table, originally published in 1858. Illustrated with a frontispiece; The Guardian Angel, originally published in 1867; One Hundred Days in Europe originally published in 1887; The Professor at the Breakfast-Table, originally published in 1859; and Elsie Venner - A Romance of Destiny, the thirty-ninth edition. In uniform half morocco bindings, marbled boards and endpapers. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and light rubbing to the spine and extremities, minor chipping and the occasional minor scuffing to the leather. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece to the occasional volume and eleven full page plates to 'The Poetical Works.' Collated, complete. More information above. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
