London: Printed for G. G. J. and J. Robinson, 1794. Third Edition. Hardcover. ix, [ii], 317pp. Contemporary full brown calf ruled in gold on the sides, spine with gilt decorations and red and black morocco labels lettered in gold, gilt board edges, gilt inside dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Engraved title page with vignette portrait of Franklin. Edited and with a preface by Richard Price. While this is volume one of two it actually includes the complete autobiography, the additional biographical section by Dr. Stuber, and extracts from Franklin's will (volume two includes the essays). Very old small bookstore label on the front pastedown endpaper (G. Daniele of Naples). Calf shows some superficial wear, lower corner tips are worn, mild foxing to first and last few leaves, three tiny worm holes on the rear panel along the spine. A bright very good+ copy in a nice period binding. Howes F323. Sabin 25600. ; Octavo.
