Frontis. photo of the Taos Pueblo in the early modern period. Illustrated throughout with artists' depictions and superb photographs. With an lengthy bibliography of "Further Reading on the Pueblos." Slight creasing to covers near spine (please see photo); interior quite bright. With a striking three-color cover illustration by Ma-Pe-Wi (Velino Herrera). He also contributed to the line drawings and other illustrations that fill the book, created by Charles Shirley, Charles Loloma, and supplemented by photographs borrowed from national institutions.
