Beautifully illustrated throughout, with many colour plates, this is a striking history of the work of the Royal Worcester porcelain company. The first edition of British civil servant and antiquarian Robert Lockhart Hobson's study of Royal Worcester porcelain, founded in 1751. Hobson was an expert in ceramics from many periods and cultures, completing two standard catalogues of the porcelain and pottery held by the British Museum.This work explores porcelain designs through the history of the Worcester porcelain company, from the Dr Wall period of 1751 to 1776 onwards. Illustrated with ninety-two plates and seventeen further tipped in brightly coloured chromolithographs. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Fading to board perimeters and back strip. Bumping to spine head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Plates retain their original tissue guards. Very Good
