New introduction by Wesley. Octavo. 308pp. Illustrated reproducing 45 historical photographs, including portraits of 12 African-American "Women Builders." Mauve cloth stamped in gold. Neat owner name on front fly, else a fine copy in striking near fine pictorial dust jacket with a modest chip at the crown, else very fresh and bright. The expanded edition in jacket is uncommon. Originally published in 1930 with 187pp. of text and containing only seven biographies, this issue prints biographies of 12 influential African-American women: Lucy Craft Laney, Maggie Walker, Janie Porter Barrett, Mary McLeod Bethune, Nannie Helen Burroughs, Charlotte Hawkins Brown, Jane Edna Hunter, Harriet Tubman, Fanny Coppin, Maria Louise Baldwin, Ida B. Wells, and Hallie Quinn Brown.
