About This Item

[Philipsburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania, 1936-1963]. 13 Booklets, printed wrappers. In various formats, approx.  3¼ x 4¾ inches to 6 x 4½ inches, and various paginations, approx. 10 to 36 pages each. Scattered ownership inscriptions and kept by Mrs. Walter Swoope. Near Fine.

Collection of 13 women's club yearbooks or program books from Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.

The Woman's Club was organized in 1936 via the consolidation of three earlier women's clubs, the oldest going back to 1912. Seen here are 11 club yearbooks comprising the club's very first "Year Book," 1936-1937 and various year books from the mid-1940s to the mid 1950s (the bulk).

Also present: two yearbooks or booklets (1960-1962) from another Philipsburg women's club, The Twentieth Century Club, apparently organized in 1924.

The yearbooks include such information as club officers, department chairmen and committees, lists of members, by-laws, and, importantly, the club's program of meeting for the coming year.
