About This Item

Poughkeepsie, NY: Father Tree Press/Warp Graphics, 1986. Portfolio in illustrated envelope, which includes a suite of 10 individual "portraits" of the wolves (plus one on cover), originally realized in charcoal pencil. 14.5" x 11". VG+ or better prints and portfolio in a VG envelope. Wendy Pini is the creator (with her husband Richard) and illustrator of ElfQuest, a wildly popular fantasy series of comics first published in 1978. In May of 1986, Pini was invited by Dr. Erich Klinghanmmer, Director of Wolf Park in Battle Ground, Indiana, to spend time sketching the wolves at the park. She and her husband, Richard, had been supporters of the park and "its aim to inform a largely unaware public of the complexities and ecological significance of the lupine social system." Uncommon--no copies in OCLC or in commerce as of October 2023.
