- Hardcover
Published by Methuen & Co., London. 1908. First Edition/ First Printing. Frontispiece by Graham Robertson.
This lovely copy of the children's classic is bound in it's original blue/green cloth boards with pictorial gilt designs to front board and spine. The top edge of the pages is also gilt, whilst the others are uncut.
There is some marking and wear to the boards and edges. The spine is on the weak side, and the cloth has split on the bottom of the front spine edge. With a little tlc and some repairs this would be a Very Good copy of this children's book for a very reasonable price.
Inside, the cracking to the spine is visible inside the front board, and there is a gift inscription to the front free endpaper and some spotting and toning to the pages as to be expected of a book this age. There are a few faint pencil marks to the first page, but the other pages in the book appear to be free from marking and in very good condition. Due to the damage to the spine, the binding is a little on the weak side, but with repairs this could easily be remedied.
In all, this book offers the ideal opportunity to gain a First Edition, first printing of a rare and highly valuable children's classic, subject to some minor restoration. As such, it is the perfect investment for any book collector and will be a beautiful book to pass down through the generations, as this classic children's tale is sure to be much loved for many more years to come.

Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
