"The Ripper" plot was a twist of Jack the Ripper - in which The Ripper is an Alien Entity, trying to frame a quirky scientist (Cary Elwes) for the murders The Entity commits. As new; flawless. Accompanying COA has become slightly bent over the decades, but will flatten under weight. See scans. Though this Wimshurst Machine is a peripheral studio prop (with some moving parts, nonetheless), used only as laboratory decor in the episode, the original Wimshurst was an electrostatic generator, a machine for generating high voltages developed between 1880 and 1883 by British inventor James Wimshurst.
