Presents Willem Diepraam's "Lomo De Corvina, Panamerica Sur, Lima, Peru, 1990". His iconic photograph of a hapless boy being chased by a pack of wild dogs. The craggy landscape is streaked with long, undulating gray lines, as if by design, giving the image an almost formal, abstract character. It looms over the tiny subjects and appears to envelop them, the Universal and the Particular merging. The photograph is simply named after the place where the horrific incident actually took place, was witnessed, and captured permanently on film by Willem Diepraam. He will not tell us if the dogs caught up with the boy and killed him - by, for example, showing a "what-happened-next" image - because he does not need to. The image already tells us that the dogs eviscerated the boy; the image before us forecloses the possibility of survival. By NOT going there, Diepraam's chase image is rendered even more powerful. The image is an aesthetic triumph as well as an evocation of sheer, unmitigated horror. His most celebrated image, it is beautifully reproduced as a doublespread in the monograph, "Willem Diepraam" (2001). An absolute "must-have" print for Willem Diepraam collectors. <b><i> This vintage print is one of the Limited Edition of 15 copies. It is very boldly and beautifully signed, titled, and dated in black ink-pen on verso by the photographer: "Willem Diepraam LOMO DE CORVINA, PANAMERICA SUR, LIMA, PERU, 1990" . This vintage print is a masterpiece. As far as we know, this is the only print available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: The print was obtained from Stephen Daiter Gallery Chicago, the photographer's American gallery. A rare signed vintage print thus. </b></i> 1 original vintage print.
