[8], vi-xii, [2], 3-388, i-xiv, [2] pp. Grey cloth with blue lettering and decorations on the front board and spine; grey topstain. Maps on the endpapers and pastedowns. Price of $4.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with a design on the title page and with 20 plates. A thoroughly illustrated history of California. A touch of foxing to the plates and a name on the free front endpaper; jacket's front flap is clipped, the price is visible, a few hints of wear to the dust jacket.
