First when she is four years old, then 32 years later when she has a successful literary career though still unmarried and finally five years later as a 41-year-old widow and mother about to fall in love for the first time. About 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, 537 pages in black paper-covered boards with a black backstrip and gold lettering on spine. The dustjacket graphic design by Honi Werner features a large picture-hanging hook on both panels, the single hook nailed squarely into the center of a bare wall. . Near Fine. Hardcover. Synopsis
John Irving has been nominated for a National Book Award three times–winning once, in 1980, for the novel The World According to Garp. A Prayer for Owen Meany was published in 1989. In 1992, Mr. Irving was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2000, he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Cider House Rules –a film with seven Academy Award nominations.
