London: Sidgwick & Jackson, Ltd, 1912. First Edition. Hard Cover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Very Good. Small Octavo. First issue. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED "THE LUCK WILL ALTER AND THE STAR WILL RISE" BY JOHN MASEFIELD ON FFEP without personalization. 97(1)p., (6)pp. ads at rear, bound in bright red cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt; a very nice clean copy in pale green printed dust jacket with the "First Thousand" and an extract from John Galsworthy. Scarce dust jacket, with minimal chips and light tanning at spine; housed in a custom morocco backed slipcase and chemise. Masefield was appointed Poet Laureate in 1930. He wrote his last book at age 88 before his death in 1967.
