Condition of hardcover: Faint age toning/rubbing to binding; four pages have scattered old liquid stains along with foxed marks (smaller stains to fore-edge and bottom edge, with light age toning); several pages creased; else overall Very Good. Free of the smell of smoke from a cigarette or cigar smoker. Dustjacket: Price intact on flap, with line drawn through it. Shelf wear, short tears/wrinkling to top extremity, minor rubbing, lightly age toned, else Very Good. Book stored in temperature-controlled bookcase. This novel is about Texas and Mailer's hero, named D.J., an 18-year-old genius. He and his dad go hunting in Alaska and long for that Grizzer. In the behavior of a few hunters from Texas a reader may sense why America goes to war, or least why the State of Texas is America's own America? Extraordinary writing. A memorable novel by Mailer.
