About This Item

London: Max Parrish, 1956. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Good. 8" by 5.5". Geoffrey Searle. A first edition of this humorous book written by Geoffrey Willans and illustrated by Ronald Searle. The first edition copy of this hilarious guide for children and young adults going through life in the twentieth century, illustrated by Ronald Searle. Rascal Nigel Molesworth is Geoffrey Willans' most well known character, and with his very original outrageous spelling, he's the supposed author of this volume full of advice on life in St. Custard's prep school. This book is mainly for children and young adults, but can also be greatly appreciated by any adult thanks to Willans' humorous writing style, alongside Searle's captivating illustrations. In the publisher's original black cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine, with price clipped dustwrapper. In the publisher's original black cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally very smart, with minor shelfwear only and slight bumping to extremities. Previous owner's inscription has been excised to front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is clipped and chipped to head, while there are minor closed tears to tail. Front wrap is slightly sunned as well as spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to a couple of leaves. Near Fine
