About This Item

(Highlands, North Carolina): The Jargon Society, 1986. Softcover. Near Fine. Third printing. Spiral bound glossy wrappers. Color photographs by the author. Foxing on the page edges and slight oxidation of the metal spirals, else near fine. Warmly Inscribed by the author. A fabulous recipe book of southern rural cooking with evocative photographs that capture the feeling of the region. Some of the recipes sound delicious, a few sound dangerous, none of them sound particularly healthy. Reportedly The Jargon Society's only bestseller. Very uncommon signed by Mickler, who died in 1988.

Synopsis

Ernest Matthew Mickler received a master’s degree in fine arts from Mills College before embarking on his true mission as a culinary cultural preservationist. Ernie died in 1988, but his classic cookbook, and all the stories enshrined within its pages, live on.
