This is the fascinating story of a Cornish cabin boy, Thomas Pellow and fifty-one of his comrades who were captured at sea by the Barbary corsairs in the summer of 1716. Resourceful, resilient and quick-witted, the young cabin boy was selected by Moroccan Sultan Moulay Ismail, and as a personal slave of the sultan would witness first-hand the barbaric splendour and daily terror of the imperial Moroccan court. .
