New York; Cosmopolitan Book Corporation, 1930., 1930. Hard Cover. INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 318. 22 captioned plates including frontispiece. Publishers' quarter dark green cloth with gilt titles and fillets to spine and light green cloth covered boards. Slightly shaken with gilt dull and spine tips creased; boards very slightly surface soiled, and bruised to corners. Attractively gift inscribed by the author on ffep to the British etcher and engraver Geoffrey Heath Wedgwood, with date Dec. 1930. Laver and Wedgwood were born within a year of one another and were contemporaries at the Liverpool Institute. A very good copy. Biography of celebrated American artist of the Gilded Age, James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1832-1903). Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
