Ralph Thompson. 1 The Whispering Land is an autobiographical account of the eight months Durrell spent travelling in Argentina during the late 1950s, collecting animals for his recently founded Jersey Zoo. Richard Durrell was a British naturalist, writer, zookeeper, television presenter and conservationist, founding the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Jersey Zoo. He wrote around forty books about his experiences as an animal collector and enthusiast with his most famous being his memoirs of living in Greece, My Family and Other Animals. With thirty-four illustrations by Ralph Thompson. In the unclipped dustwrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the tail of the spine.
