Charming story in verse about Santa Claus' younger brother, Santa Criss, and two magical figures that emerge from two bonbons he made. Illustrated mainly in duotone (black and white plus one additional color) plus several full color plates. Blue cloth lettered in gilt with color illustration mounted on the front cover, patterned endpapers, 96 pages. Covers have some finger soil and edgewear, with light fraying to corners and spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, two bits of old adhesive on the front pastedown, a few tiny chips and closed tear to the far lower margins, light foxing to dedication page, very minor old transparent stain to the far top margins, gift notation on the verso of the front free endpaper, pages otherwise unmarked and generally clean with a few instances of light finger soil.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

New York: E. P. Dutton & Co., 1924. Third printing, 1924, same year as the first. Red cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, no dustjacket. Light rubbing to the extremities, just a touch of barely noticeable finger soil to the cover, gilt somewhat dulled but very clearly legible, good hinges, sound text block, slightly age-toned but clean pages, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

New York: Prentice- Hall, Inc., 1921. First edition, title page dated 1921. Story of a boy and his dog in Texas, with six black and white plates plus a color frontis with tissue. Dark blue cloth with color illustration mounted on the front cover, lettering in gilt, no dustjacket, possibly as issued. Very good copy with very light rubbing to corners and spine ends, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages with an old gift notation on the reverse side of the frontis illustration, no other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Paris; New York: Robert Delpire; Universe Books, 1956. First US edition, 2nd edition overall. Long, narrow hardcover (10.5 x about 3.25 inches) with original mailing carton that has a window for the crocodile's snout to be visible. Some age-speckling to the white background, slightly darkened area consistent with the mailing box window, one inch tape repair to the bottom of the rear cover, good hinges, sound text block, clean pages with some minor age-toning to the first and last pages, no names or other markings. The mailing box has some old tape marks to the far end (tape has long ago fallen off), minor soil, French stamps but no postmark. Our guess is that the mailing box was never intended to be actually used to mail the book but was just there for effect. . Hard Cover. Very Good/Good Mailing Box. Narrow Oblong 8vo.

New York: E. P. Dutton, 1957. Nineteenth printing, 1957. Lavender hardcover printed in dark blue, illustrated dustjacket. The book has some light edge rubbing as well as some fading to the far outer edges, good hinges, sound text block, outer edges of text block and endpapers age-speckled, pages somewhat age-toned with outer margins that are further age-darkened, pages otherwise clean, old address label at top corner of front free endpaper, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped [2.75] and has age-speckling to the white background, some very small chips to the spine ends, almost no paper loss.. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

New York: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard Co., 1940. First edition, 1940. This delightful story, set in Peru, about a stray who is part Mastiff, part Boxer. Light khaki illustrated boards with light green cloth spine and brown cover lettering, color illustrated endpapers, about twenty-eight pages (unpaginated), no dustjacket. The book is in good condition with some edgewear including mildly rubbed periphery and light shelf soil, a sound text block, good hinges, clean pages free from any markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1970. First edition, signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Very good copy except for a stained rear cover (not visible with dustjacket in place). The author describes the nesting habits of 49 different birds. Illustrated with line drawings. Blue cloth, 127 pages, illustrated dustjacket. Light rubbing to corners and spine ends, two coffee cup ring-type spots on rear cover, good hinges, sound text block, a scattering of light foxing to the endpapers, embossed personal book stamp at the lower corner of the front free endpaper, pages clean and otherwise unmarked. The mylar protected dustjacket is priceclipped and has some very minor chipping to the spine ends, a small green circular sticker at the bottom corner of the front panel, very minor spot to lower edge of spine.. Amusing verses about dogs - really about the Dodd's Cocker Spaniel - illustrated with captioned drawings of the dog colored in golden tan. Pictorial tan hardcover with tan cloth spine, illustrated endpapers, 68 pages. Some rubbing, soil and darkening to the upper and lower edges of the front cover, good hinges, sound text blcok, clean pages with a 1933 gift notation at the bottom of the front free endpaper, no other markings..
