Jonathan Cape / Harrison Smith, 1931. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Tan cloth boards under photographic dust jacket. Discoloration to boards near edges, biopredation to inner hinges; jacket with edgewear which is minor except for a 1/2" deep diagonal chip to rear panel. Jacket has wrap-around photo of union strikers. Covers the Danville strike of 1930-31, and the Elizabethton, Gastonia, Marion strikes as well. Although largely dealing with white union workers, "Negroes" do have several entries in the index.
