Octavos, xi, 312 pp + 32 pages of publisher's ads; iv, [13] -316 pp. Original brown blindstamped cloth with gilt spine titles. Loss at head and foot of spines, and worn through to boards on some parts of cover edges. Small library number on each title page with a tiny "withdrawn" stamp over it. Light foxing on endpapers. One signature partially loose in vol. 2. Sabin 43351, Howes M117 "Judicious commentary based on extensive travels." Buck W 426 "Tells of a trip up the Mississippi to St. Louis, back down the Mississippi and up the Ohio. Mentions Cairo and gives glimpses of western life." (Illinois Travel & Description 1765-1865). 011506A
