About This Item

Hamden, CT: Archon Books, 1968. History of the Pinney family of Nevis, in the West Indies, & Bristol, England, and their sugar plantation, worked by enslaved persons and later mismanaged when the family turned its attention to their sugar 'merchant house' in Bristol. The family's detailed record-keeping allows an unprecedented level of detail to the author's study of their fortune, and their relation to economic history in general. A scarce book by this respected historian. Reprint, hardcover in jacket, as pictured; full blue cloth; gilt titling. Corners lightly rubbed; price clipped jacket shows some creasing, light edgewear, a small chip at the head of the spine, minor tanning. Text clean; viii, 374 pages; index, notes, appendices on the Pinney papers & 1722 household; b/w plates, map, map endsheets.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 5¾" by 8¾".
