1900. Very good condition. A striking image of the Company on the parade ground, standing at ease with their rifles not shouldered, the 3 officers in the front row with swords. A large albumen print laid down on mat board, the company photographed in the fall, with a row of trees behind. This was a period in which West Point graduated the class of 1899 early due to a need for officers to command troops in the Philippines. The Class of 1900 sent Louis Joseph Van Schaick to fight in the Philippines; he was awarded the Medal of Honor for cavalry actions against enemy forces. Another notable graduate of the class of 1900 was Robert E. Wood, later the chief quartermaster during the construction of the Panama Canal, chairman of Sears, Roebuck (1939-1954) and founder of AllState Insurance. Albumen laid down on mat board.
