Were You at the Riot Monday Night? Don't Talk to the Cops [handbill]

  • Used
San Francisco: Anonymous publisher, 1991. Single 8.5x11 inch handbill printed one side only, light wear, closed tear and tape remains. The riot referred to was the AB101 Veto Riot on September 30, 1991 after Governor Pete Wilson vetoed the Gay Rights Bill. Gerard Koskovitch and Bob Smith organized a peaceful protest that eventually spun out of control and the Old State Office Building was damaged. Of humorous note: the riot began when Frank Jordan showed up and tried to commandeer the speaker system to stump for votes. He was chased out of the Castro and lost his tasseled loafer in his hurry to exit. It now resides in the collection of the Gay Lesbian Historical Society!
