About This Item

Santport, Netherlands: C.A. Mees, 1925.. 165pp. (printed on alternate rectos and versos of conjugate leaves uncut at fore-edge). Oblong large quarto. Light tan linen, with gilt spine label designed by Wright. Profusely illustrated with drawings, photographs, etc. Cloth lightly foxed and dusty at extremities, a bit of shelfwear at crown and toe of spine, edge of spine label lifting a bit at corners on the lower cover, otherwise a very good copy. First edition, issue in book format, of the "first major publication of Wright's work after the 1910-11 volume" - Sweeney. Text by Wright appears, with an introduction by H. Th. Wijdeveld and contributions by others. The material appeared as seven consecutive issues of WENDINGEN, the organ of the Architectura et Amicitia group in Amsterdam, with typography and layout by the editor, printed by Enschede en Zonen. Copies were bound up in this format, without wrappers, for more permanent distribution in book form. A handsome and important publication. SWEENEY 165 & 168.
