The publishers of this book have long specialized in fabrics for industry. The predecessor firm of Wellington Sears Company was a ship chandlery founded in Boston in 1845. A major part of its business was in canvas for the sails of clipper ships and whalers. In 1887 Wellington Sears became selling agents for the West Point Mfg. Co. Together they pioneered many fields but always their greatest efforts and successes were directed to fabrics for industry - every segment of industry."
