Vintage original Art Deco style owner bookplate to the back of the front-free endpaper. Previous owner has pasted newspaper column to the title page with the name of this book underlined in red pencil and a date 5-8-77 in pencil on the article. The first novel to have overt lesbian themes. Hall wore masculine dress and lived openly as a lesbian at a time when it was illegal. She was also a devout Catholic.
