New York, NY: N.Y. / New York: Weird Tales Pulp Magazine, NO DATE -Circa 1947, 1st Edition, 1947. -----------WEIRD TALES ephemera, REJECTION SLIP, no date, a Near Fine example, still accompanies the rejected manuscript for The Headless Goddess by W H Butterfield / Will Heddens, there are actually two copies of the rejected manuscript with each one being "penned" by one of the two names (Butterfield / Heddens ), as well there is an incomplete typed critique of GODDESS from Laurence R D'Orsay of California, it appears as though D'Orsay was a hired gun to critique and offer suggestions to aspiring authors (likley not just pulp writers ), this would nhave been a paid-for service that Heddens/Butterfield contracted, all of this is in a card folder with pencil notes indicating that GODDESS was sent to WT Jan 10 47 and a smaller pencilled note that states Street & Smith June 1939 (no rejection slip so only an assumption that the manuscript was sent to Street & Smith) suggesting that Mr Heddens/Butterfield spent considerable years offering this manuscript up to the pulps, ---I cannot find any mention of Heddens/Butterfield ever having been published, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE///. First Edition. Soft Cover. Near Fine (see desciption). Illus. by Text Cover. 5.5w x 5.5h Inches.
