About This Item

London : Chatto and Windus, 1896. First edition. Cloth. Good. 7.5" by 5.5". None. A first edition of Stevenson's unfinished novel, Weir of Hermiston. The story of a upper-class youth from Edinburgh who is banished from his family home to live as a local laird, the book is notable for its confusing naming of two characters called Christina; an aspect that presumably would have been rectified had Stevenson completed the book. Contains a newspaper cutting to pastedown. In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally quite smart, there is some minor wear to boards, extremities, joints and backstrip. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are generally bright and clean aside from the usual foxing to endpapers Good
