Despite her initial reluctance, Sister Angela agrees to the marriage and tries to make the best of the situation. However, she soon discovers that Raymond has a dark secret that threatens to destroy their relationship. As she struggles to come to terms with her feelings for him, Sister Angela must also confront the challenges of being a wife and balancing her duties to God and her husband. The novel explores themes of love, faith, duty, and sacrifice, and offers a glimpse into the lives of women in the late 19th century.
