About This Item

Macmillan & Co. Ltd, 1944. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG++/VG. 1st Edition, 1st Impression. 14.2 x 22.1 cm blue cloth with gilt stamped titles to the spine 83 (3)pp with 10 black and white illustrations and original unclipped jacket with a 6s. net price. Signed by the author in pen to the front free endpaper. The book has been well protected by the jacket and the boards are clean and bright. Internally there is a neat gift inscription to the front free endpaper as well as the author's signature. The flimsy wartime dust jacket, now protected in a removable clear cover (not shown in our images), is in very good condition considering its delicate nature, a little toned with a little chipping to the spine tips and top corners and a few short closed tears along the top edge ranging from 0.2 - 1.5 cm. All in all a very nice copy of Ian Serrallier's first book of poetry which draws on fairy tales, legends and folk-law for inspiration and was written 12 years before his most famous work The Silver Sword. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
