About This Item
First edition copy. Wear on the edges of dust jacket, though it remains fully intact. Previous owner's initials and date on back end papers of book. Dust jacket will be covered in Mylar upon purchase for added protection.
Description taken from dust jacket: Men in boots, "trolls" from the deep forest, shy Ottawas, strident women from the Badlands, city dwellers of every heritage, the last twigs on dying family trees and the first roots pushing through tenement ooze; these were the fellow-citizens whom for three years came to Mrs. Armstrong for help. In this northern Michigan county the Federal Emergency Relief Administration uncovered a community whose desperate straits had gone on for years and to whom the national disaster had only given a final crushing blow, That is the chief reason why this book is so much more than a picture of one of the phases of the depression and why its appeal has no connection with political faith.
