New York: Random House, 1959. First printing thus. First published in 1936 in a very small printing. Author wrote the foreword to this edition and made slight changes to text. Blue boards with gold and black stamping to spiine and front board. Name of former owner in rubber stamp to front end paper. No other markings. There are a few faint black line at edges of same fep. Price intact jacket has minor edgewear but is still bright and clean. In mylar. . First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
We the Living is the first novel published by the American novelist Ayn Rand. It was also Rand's first expression against communism. First published in 1936, it is a story of life in post-revolutionary Russia. Ayn Rand observes in the foreword to this book that We the Living was the closest she would ever come to writing an autobiography. Her working title for the novel had been "Airtight. " We the Living was first completed in 1934, but, despite the support it received from H.L.
