London: Jonathan Cape Ltd. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1978. Hardcover. 0224615319 . 272 p. 20 cm. Sound and square binding. Brown paper-covered boards. Bottom fore-corners are bumped. Top of text block a bit dusty. Inside pages are clean, bright and unmarked. Dust wrapper has some edge and corner wear. A few spots of staining on the spine and a few light scratches. Sticker pull mark on front flap which is also clipped. A re-issue of a children's novel set on an island in the English Channel during World War II, where two children encounter German invaders. This was Mary Treadgold's first book, originally published in 1941, and the winner of the Carnegie Medal for the best children's book. Black and white illustrations by Stuart Tresilian. .
