New York: William Edwin Rudge, 1928 Good-/No Jacket Paper-covered boards. With an Introduction by William Elliot Griffis (written a few weeks before his death). Illustrated with half-tone reproductions. Romantic historical novel set in Japan, written by a Fryeburg, Maine author during the period of increased U.S. popular interest in the Far East. Neat handwrtten corrections to first page of Introduction and page 119 of text most likely made by author. Cover corners and spine edges moderately-to-heavily rubbed; slight cover discoloration. Front endpaper removed, exposing binding hinge. Library marks: inkstamps to inside front and rear covers and title page; neat catalog digits at upper margin of Dedication page.
